The faq says ifconfig inet sl0 LOCAL REMOTE netmask 0xMASK ^^^^ ^^^ The command should read ifconfig sl0 inet LOCAL.IP.NUM REMOTE.IP.NUM ^^^ ^^^^ The use of ip numbers rather than names is so that it always works even if you haven't got named (or /etc/hosts) set up correctly. I have not found the netmask necessary at all, though putting it in there does not seem to break anything. >>>> Then I do "route add default REMOTE" and get the error >>>> "bind: address is already used" > 'Coz the interface is not set up. Actually, this is becaue a previous attempt (or startup settings) have already set the default route. The way to clear the slate is to do a "route delete default" when you disconnect (either done or when something doesn't work) and do a "add default" again at the appropriate time in the sequence. Theoretically, you could leave the default route set even if there is no connection, but I have no idea if there are side effects to this (other than "network unreachable") -coranth ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Coranth Gryphon Karma: You can't take it with you, but you can send it on ahead.
