Sadly, this seems to be true. My employer used to purchase Adaptec chips to
the tune of several million per year but we now design our own after several
bad experiences and unsatisfactory support and responses from Adaptec. This
is what happens when a company gets large and successful and starts hiring
large numbers of the Guys With Ties. Thanks Adaptec for helping us get started
in the ASIC business!
