The SCSI tape drive I was using had the same problem.  Try
configuring it as lunit 2.  It seems to work at 2 with one or
two SCSI drives.  I have not traced down why it will not work as
unit 4, but I suspect it could be changed in the kernel configuration.

I believe you are correct in that most other O/Ss expect it as unit 4.
If Bill is reading this and it is possible to change in the configuration,
maybe the first set of official patches will change this.

I'm interested.  Especially in the part that allows possible booting from
a second disk.  The partition booter I was using is not compatible with
386BSD.
