I successfully installed bsd bindist on a 200Mb HD, having first removed my 1st drive containing DOS. Then I placed the DOS drive back as the master with bsd as the slave drive and installed booteasy. This appeared to provide for booting up of the 2nd HD but in practise this didnt work even though the choice was presented to me at boot time (F1/F5 keys). I then tried os-bs but this didnt list the 2nd drive. In the september copy of the FAQ's I noted that section 2.5.3 contains advice from Julian Elischer on modifying boot.c code to allow for 2nd disk booting. I am currently looking for this code so please point me to it or even email/post the source+includes etc. BTW I tried installing bsd on the 1st disk alongside a 10Mb DOS partition but the install couldn't disklabel the damn thing correctly, causing endless reboot cycle. If I had managed to correctly use the disklabel prog from the fixit floppy this might have worked, but after editing the label with disklabel -e wd0 I only got a /tmp vi editor file and no change to the HD disklabel. So I figured that I'd just have the whole disk for bsd anyway... provided it was bootable as the 2nd disk ! Some might say this whole thing is an 'opportunity' for the novice, but I couldn't possibly comment. -- Mark Simmons
