Support often is nothing but that warm and fuzzy feeling that no matter what, business will continue. Having an in-house support person may be a part of that, but how often do we read here from these in-house support people complaining about their lack of support from 'their' sources be it SCO or anybody else? Real support is being able to bring whatever resources are necessary (and when the chips are down) to the table. It is what people pay for in the end. Someone already mentioned it. There must be some teeth to such an arrangement. What if I don't get what I expect? What happens if I lose substantial profits and endanger my business? Real support has an implied redress for these things. 'Someone' can be sued for damages. Obviously the reseller of a $35,000 software package guarantees his software to work on whatever basis he sells it on. The dollars expect it and get it.
