The system has a built-in IDE interface that is disabled and has no drives defined for it in the cmos. The system also has an Adaptec 1540CF with a Seagate st1980n drive. When the system boots up after I have configured the kernel to get rid of any extraneous devices I get an error message like this: RTC BIOS diagnostic error 8<fixed_disk> Then the system boots fine. When doing a warm reboot (sync;sync;reboot) here is what happens. The screen clears, I get the above error then the copyright mesage and then I get a nice error that reads: Trap Type 12 code=fdbf0000 eip=fe053da8 cs=fdbf0008 eflags=10246 cr2 0 cpl ffffffff trap:panic please press reset (The wording on line 3 & 4 might be different but the first and second line are correct). Anybody have any ideas where this might be coming from? The system has a SVGA VESA localbus card, 2 serial ports and a WD8003E ether card. There are no conflicts as all works after the system boots. Thanks, Jim P.S. Please e-mail as the news feed here really stinks. -- deitch@sima.san.mrms.navy.mil jdeitch@ns2.mrms.navy.mil (619)556-0332
