Is XFree86 2.0 compiled with shared libraries? For FreeBSD, they are still in beta test. They are changing weekly (sometimes daily), so they are definitely not in a state where they can be considered stable (development-wise), but they are somewhat stable (usage-wise). There are still some issues to be resolved, such as making shared C++ libraries is currently not supported, but they are coming along nicely. If you want to get involved in FreeBSD development, send email to majordomo@freefall.cdrom.com with a BODY (not subject) containing the word "help" which should let you know everything you need to get involved on the mailing lists.
