Logging in from another terminal and killing xinit works, but is no good if you don't have another terminal. I've found that I can use "ps ux" to find the process id of xinit, "(sleep 30 ; kill -HUP <xinit pid here>) &", and exit the session (exit window manager, last window, or whatever.) Also, I've noticed an interesting thing on my DECpc 466d2 MTE running NetBSD 0.9 while trying to wake up the console. If I turn on the Scroll Lock and hit Enter until the cursor tries to go past the bottom of the screen, the system reboots itself. Cute, huh? Gary D.
