If you wanna try another one, use pcvt. It's currently in its final beta
stage for release 3.00. It is larger than syscons, but provides a rather
good vt220-style terminal emulator along with some other nifty features.
(Btw., at least for me it fixes all the known bugs that occur with syscons
[console hangs after /etc/daily ran; cannot safely run getty on /dev/console])

Do get the beta only if you have a serious interest in testing - the Dresden
University has a very slow line.

The distribution server for pcvt is ftp.inf.tu-dresden.de alias irz301.
inf.tu-dresden.de alias irzr11.inf.tu-dresden.de. The official release
is placed under ~ftp/pub/unix/386bsd/pcvt, the betas can be found under
~ftp/pub/incoming/unix/386bsd/pcvt [directory _is_ readable]. Someone
told me that he has uploaded the latest beta as agate.berkeley.edu:
~ftp/pub/incoming/pcvt-b7.tar.gz -- but i can't ftp at the moment and
thus cannot confirm this.

pcvt will run on all the free i386/BSD systems.
