So far, it's counted something like 4500 Linux users, and I estimate that to be somewhere between 1% and 10% of the total Linux population. A common question has been to ask how that compares to 386bsd. So, in a fit of hubris, I set up a clone of the Linux counter for 386bsd. Now, I need two things to happen: 1) People should be told of this counter, and register 2) If people have comments on the reporting, the usage and so on, it should be updated as soon as possible. I'm a Linux user myself, so I would perhaps not notice any pro-Linux bias in the wordings.... HOW TO REGISTER: Send E-mail to 386bsd-counter@uninett.no, with the SUBJECT LINE being one of: I use 386bsd at home I use 386bsd at school I use 386bsd at work I use 386bsd at home and at work I do not use 386bsd You will get back a letter with 3 things: - An acknowledgement - A form that you can fill out and send in with more information about yourself, your machine, and your 386bsd-using friends - A report giving the current status of the counter You can update your "vote" at any time, by sending an E-mail message from the same account. Duplicates will be weeded out. Happy voting! -- Harald Tveit Alvestrand Harald.T.Alvestrand@uninett.no G=Harald;I=T;S=Alvestrand;O=uninett;P=uninett;C=no +47 73 59 70 94 My son's name is Torbjørn.
