	for netbsd 0.9, the problem seems to be fixed by adding the following
	after the 

	kbd_mode -a

	in startx:

	stty -f /dev/vga sane


	i haven't had the hanging console for quite some time.  if you
	have a terminal, and the console locks up, stty -f /dev/vga sane
	from the terminal should fix it as well.

	at least, that's what a bunch of people have reported, and it works fine for me.
