I've got two machines set up, both with the NFS client and server options turned on in the kernel. One is a fully operational machine that also serves as the nameserver (both machines are in the nameserver database with their name to address mapping and the reverse); the other is a very minimal machine that I want to mount the first machine's /usr volume on. (/usr is also a filesystem.) I've got both tcp and udp nfs daemons running on the server. I've got the following /etc/exports file: /usr -root=0 spartan /usr/share /tmp (Spartan is the name of my client.) Mountd and nfsd are registered with portmap. (I get appropriate errors if mountd isn't running.) But, when I try to mount any of these file systems from single user mode on the client or /usr/share or /tmp to /mnt on the host (through nfs) all I get is a "Permission denied" error. This occurs with both TCP and UDP connections. After I've tried to connect, showmount shows the hosts as connected. Showmount -e shows my export lists as ok. Nfsstat gives me the following (after a few dozen mount tries): Client Info: Rpc Counts: Getattr Setattr Lookup Readlink Read Write Create Remove 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 Rename Link Symlink Mkdir Rmdir Readdir Statfs 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 Rpc Info: TimedOut Invalid X Replies Retries Requests 0 0 0 0 1 Cache Info: Attr Hits Misses Lkup Hits Misses BioR Hits Misses BioW Hits Misses 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 BioRLHits Misses BioD Hits Misses DirE Hits Misses 0 0 0 0 0 0 Server Info: Getattr Setattr Lookup Readlink Read Write Create Remove 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 Rename Link Symlink Mkdir Rmdir Readdir Statfs 0 0 0 0 0 0 32 Server Ret-Failed 32 Server Faults 0 Server Cache Stats: Inprog Idem Non-idem Misses 0 0 5 26 I'm at a complete loss here; what could I possibly be doing wrong? cjs -- Curt Sampson a09878@giant.rsoft.bc.ca Fluor Daniel 604 691 5458 1444 Alberni Street Vanouver, B.C., V6G 2Z4 "Do not expect fairings."
