I absolutely agree. I like the mag, but didn't subscribe for several years because of this policy. I finally subscribed when I had a sufficiently prestigious position. One year they decided I was really a mover & shaker, and returned my check! The following year, they did not send a renewal form, but ONLY a questionaire. I didn't fill it out because, like most forms of its kind, it really doesn't capture the structure of a consulting relationship. (Should I answer the questions relative to my consulting company [thus grossly understating my influence], or relative to my clients' companies [and misrepresent my employment status]?) I did not fill out the questionaire, and my subscription lapsed. It appears they are far more interested in facile demographics than they are in circulation. --- Bret Orsburn borsburn@mcs.kent.edu
