What?? If I use cd0a it gives the "illegal arg" error. One clue is that I was not able to use the cdrom install either to install FreeBSD. During it I got a message that said it could not find the cdrom. This indicates a serious configuration problem! We've got a LOT of UltraStore and Toshiba 3401 users, so I suggest that you mail details of your configuration to freebsd-questions@freefall.cdrom.com and see if anyone has any suggestions. My own combo is an Adaptec 1742 and Toshiba 3301, so I can't offer any direct suggestions except "It SHOULD work!" So I had to install with floppies. Does the cdrom have to be at a particular scsi address? Also No.. It should be found and mapped to cd0 no matter where it is.. I wonder if your drive is properly terminated.. Please, if you haven't solved the problem already, please send mail to freebsd-questions@freefall.cdrom.com!
