Hi,
I am running NetBSD and FreeBSD (latest releases) and I am having trouble
with the telnetd and tty settings. Its seems that there is some bug when a user
disconnects that new attempts to get past login: and password: to be in a screwed
up state. This requires a user to type ^J after entering a username and/or password.
Sometimes the login prompt doesn't appear at all or when you type <CR> you get ^M
as an echo.

I hacked telnetd to give the terminal CRMOD | ECHO on the tty settings during
login and I tell my users to do an stty sane in their login scripts. You can reproduce
the problem by telnetting into a FreeBSD or NetBSD account and breaking the connection
at the password: prompt. Try logging again and voila the problem.
