A big with similar description to this was just fixed in FreeBSD-current. The sources to FreeBSD-current are available from FreeBSD.cdrom.com, and we hope to make the mail archives available for perusal in the near future so that folks can look at the mail logs of the changes to see where the fixes occurred.
