Wong) Date: Fri, 28 Jan 1994 07:22:28 GMT Organization: Comp Sci, La Trobe Uni, Australia Lines: 30 Hi, I am runnign FreeBSD-1.0.2, just freshly reinstalled after an old SCSI-2 Micropolis 2112 failed at powering up, and I got one replacement. However, this new drive does boot up nicely in a short while (a few seconds). The problem is when I run some programs that do a lot of disk access or let it sit there for a long time, I always get the follwing errors logged onto consoles : ah0:device 0 timed out sd0:illegal request ah0:device 0 timed out ah0:device 0 timed out ah0:device 0 timed out . . . and it just hangs there ! I am running 486DX/33 with Adaptec 1542C SCSI adapter, together with another VLB SVAG-IDE-and-multi-i/o card where a Conner CP3544 is connected. Does someone know is this a disk problem (well, it is a new drive), the SCSI adapter problem, or software problem ? Please email me, it's urgent.
