I have the same problem. it worse, actually, since

a) I convinced a friend (who was running linux) to try out FreeBSD,
b) I'm the only person running FreeBSD on campus (everyone else: dos, os2,
   linux),
c) I don't have a machine of my own, in case my friend starts hating
   FreeBSD, and
d) I want to convert everyone.

the only problem I've run into so far (that I can't solve) is this modem
one.

HELP!
