Date: 9 Feb 1994 20:38:34 GMT Organization: University of Arizona, CCIT Lines: 25 Message-ID: <2jbhka$q4a@auggie.CCIT.Arizona.EDU> NNTP-Posting-Host: dante.lpl.arizona.edu X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2] Greetings! I have an old 8-bit soundblaster and I just grabbed FreeBSDv1.0.2. I was rather pleased to find that FreeBSD had support for a soundblaster already there in the kernel, so I added the correct lines in to my config file and remade a new kernel. I then went to athena.sdsu.edu to grab some .au files and play them on my new multi-media machine. When I did a: axis% cat sad-but-true.au > /dev/audio I got about 4 seconds of music played much too quick and then my whole machine went down. It crashes so quick I could not read the errors I got. Is this a common problem? Is the Soundblaster driver not really supported yet? It seems to me that I have seen many Soundblaster success stories; perhaps it is just 8-bit Soundblasters that have this problem? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Josh. -- jl@lpl.arizona.edu jl@axis.lpl.arizona.edu
