Subject: Screen garbage after exiting X

I'm running XFree86 2.0 under NetBSD 0.9 on an Elonex 33MHx 386DX EISA
machine.

Until today, I had a Genoa GVGA card. X performance was poor, and after
exiting from X the screen and fonts were trashed. Today, I installed
an Orchid Fahrenheit VA (S3) card. Performance is now fine, but the
screen and fonts are still trashed after exiting from X. I had assumed
that this was a problem with the Genoa card, but evidently not.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Could it be a motherboard problem?
