It can be retrieved via anonymous ftp from ftp.hyperion.com or, for those without ftp access, by sending the following mail to ftpmail@hyperion.com: cd /WorkMan get WorkMan-1.2.tar.gz (Substitute ".Z" for ".gz" if you don't have the gzip compression utility.) Binaries for ULTRIX 4.2 and HP/UX 9.0 are also available. Note that HP/UX 8.07 isn't supported in this release; if you can get it working, please contact me. WorkMan is a graphical tool for playing audio compact discs on a CD-ROM drive. It has most of the features available on standalone CD players, such as a shuffle mode, programmable playlists, and elapsed/remaining timers. But it also has extra features, foremost of which is the ability to store information about CDs in a database, then automatically extract that information when the CD is inserted later. WorkMan stores the artist's name, the disc title, the names of individual tracks, and even remembers which tracks you don't want to hear! All in an easy-to-use, attractive OPEN LOOK graphical interface. Disc databases may be shared among any number of users on the network. WorkMan keeps separate databases for your private information about CDs (e.g. which order you like the tracks to play) and the discs' public information. A sample database is available from ftp.hyperion.com. WorkMan runs on the following platforms: BSD/386 HP/UX 9.x Linux Solaris 2.x Sony NEWS SunOS 4.x SVr4 4.0 ULTRIX 4.2 WorkMan requires the XView toolkit, version 3.0 or higher. XView 3.0 is part of the X11R5 contrib distribution. This release represents a major reorganization of the platform-specific code as well as various minor bug fixes and new features. See the CHANGELOG file in the source distribution for more information. -Steve
