ok thanks for the help on linking the kernel to a high memory address.

i'm still not getting the card to work.  it seems that there are no
/dev files being created (snd1,2,or 3, nor audio,audio1).  how can i
have these files created.

also, the card's volume and other settings (bass, treble, balance,
etc) are controlled by software.  is there any way in FreeBSD to
control these things?
