»I've never used Yapboot. I use OS-BS to select between OS/2 2.1 on the first disk, first partition, NetBSD 0.9 on the second disk, whichever partition, and Boot Manager (!) on the first disk, second partition. (Hey, it was alread there, so why not???) ;-) I use OS-BS 2.0 beat -- the old version will not allow you to use other hard disks. (The BSD FAQ should be updated.)

I tried to use OS-BS 2.08 beta and I failed. It was because of my
configuration. I have DOS on my first disk and FreeBSD on the second. It would
work if I don't need any FreeBSD partition on the DOS disk (I need it, because
I want to mount DOS partitions under FreeBSD). So as I don't want to lose
any space for my DOS, I used the sectors 1-29 for a dummy FreeBSD partition
on the first disk cause DOS don't use them. Unfortunately OS-BS 2.08 beta has
been grown a little bit, so it destroys the disklabel from the first disk.
If you would like to have such a configuration like me, then you have 2
possibilities:
1) Use sectors after DOS for FreeBSD, so OS-BS can use all sectors like it
wants to. But you lose some space for DOS...
2) Use the old OS-BS like I do now. Change the boot code (in boot.c) so that
OS-BS starts the BSD system from the second disk (sd1) but the dummy
partition remains on the first disk.
You also can waive to use DOS partitions under FreeBSD. Then OS-BS 2.08 beta
is no problem. Or you can use Yapboot. But I don't know how many sectors at the
beginning of the disk this code uses.

Bye,
	Udo
