These two statements are unquestionably true, Peter, but what have they to
do with each other? :-)

(Job control was not "good work"; it was a wretched botch that probably
delayed the appearance of better multiplexed-interaction schemes for years,
and will continue to haunt us for decades since it somehow got into POSIX.
Its wide acceptance only shows how desperate people were for *some kind*
of multiplexed interaction, however awkward and gross.)
