I went into PC store this morning to test FreeBSD on a toshiba 1650
laptop before buying it.

It would only said 'read error' when presented with a boot disk.

a toshiba protege exhibited the same behavour

an IBM thinkpad 450 read the disk, but after the initial image
loaded, it was unable to address the floppy to read the kernel

a compaq contura seemed to boot fine on the floppy (not to
say that I wouldn't have had problems if I had actually
     tried to install)

I haven't seem to have had any problems on the various desktop systems
I have tried.

has anyone had successful experiences with 386BSD derivates on any*
laptop machine?
