But I can't get FreeBSD to acknowledge that I've got a CDROM drive. My system is a Gateway 2000 4DX2-66V with a Mitsumi DoubleSpeed CDROM. I've got a WD Caviar 424 Meg HD (IDE), so I'm using the CDINS_AH.FLP boot image. This drive was not recognised properly with the old probe code. I've substantially redone the probe code for FreeBSD 1.1 (which just entered BETA status) and you should be able to bootstrap your system with the new floppies. That said, I think they still look at 0x300 for the drive, so we need to put in another probe at 0x340 to deal with the Gateway folk. I've just dashed off a quick mail to the group about making a set of these up. Please get in touch with us at freebsd-questions@freefall.cdrom.com and one of us will get back to you with details of where to ftp an updated floppy set! Thanks! Jordan -- Jordan K.
