This is what I experienced, too, but you can try to override the DNS
based hosts database with entries in /etc/hosts on the two machines.
(Be sure to have the appropriate setting in /etc/svc.conf on both your
Ultrix and your OSF/1 machine, i.e. "hosts=local,bind".)
