Shan Bell) Newsgroups: comp.os.386bsd.questions Subject: [FreeBSD] Continued problems with BL445S VLB SCSI card Date: 2 Mar 1994 16:27:41 GMT Organization: Msen, Inc. -- Ann Arbor, Michigan Lines: 28 Distribution: world Message-ID: <2l2ept$phl@nigel.msen.com> NNTP-Posting-Host: 192.245.33.3 Keywords: BusLogic, 445S, SCSI I posted problems I was having getting the BusLogic 445S VLB card booting under FreeBSD 1.0.2. I got numerous replies indicating that it could be a mother board problem or maybe it's something that's fixed in 1.1. I now have another machine (new mother board) and I'm running 1.1 Beta. Things look good. I can boot up and get the card to recognized my devices (currently a Toshiba CD drive and an IOmega floptical). However, when I try to mount a CD, the system hangs. I've tried several termination schemes and the parity is set correctly (both the board and the CD drive have it turned on). So I'm looking for either a solution to the BusLogic VLB problem, or a suggestion for another SCSI card. I have one requirement, I have to be able to facilitate more than 16Mb of RAM. As I understand it, all EISA boards suffer from this problem. That's why I'm trying to get this VLB card to work. Thanks for the support, I couldn't have gotten this far without it. shan -- J.
