Since 'F' comes before 'L' in the alphabet FreeBSD much be better. :-) The networking code in FreeBSD is better. The documentation for FreeBSD is better. FreeBSD tends to have more 'commercial quality' documentation written up on it so it's more standardized. The entire distribution for FreeBSD is better put together as a whole. FreeBSD uses a better copyright than Linux, the BSD copyright. { See below } >2. : >IN WHAT WAYS IS THE LATEST SLACKWARE BETTER THAN FREEBSD 1.1 ? One has a name that starts with the English letter 'L', and the other one starts with the English letter 'F'. Since 'L' comes after 'F' in the alphabet Linux must be using newer technology. Linux has a DOS emulator. There are more users using Linux than using FreeBSD due to FreeBSD entering the scene later on. Slackware uses a more modular install script which makes it easier to install different parts of the system. (It's more customizable) The documentation for Linux was written by the users so it is more geared to you. (?) Linux uses a better copyright than FreeBSD, the GPL. { See above } Nate -- nate@bsd.coe.montana.edu | FreeBSD core member and all around tech. nate@cs.montana.edu | weenie. work #: (406) 994-4836 | Graduating May '94 with a BS in EE home #: (406) 586-0579 | - looking for work in CS/EE field.
