I was very disappointed with the performance of my mouse (jumpy, intermittent, etc.) compared to my `at work' system running a much older version of FreeBSD with 16550's also, and a similar (same brand) but newer mouse. Change the drivers to the older com0/1 from the sio0/1. I tried mix and match, but no-go.
