I have the same problem with my Western Digital WD93044-A 40MB IDE drive
connected to a Miniscribe 300892101 Rev. P2 AT DISK controller.
The controller has several jumpers: JP1, JP2, JP3, JP4, JP5.
Pin 2 and 3 of JP1 are connected. Pin 1 and 2 of the other jumpers
are not connected. Does anybody know the meaning of these jumper?
The BEEP is produced by the drive and not by the speaker!

I got the same result. I think that bytes are getting swapped
somewhere reading this information! This should have been:
wd0 <WD 93044-A (40 MB)> at 0x1f0 irq 14 on isa

Configuration:
Highscreen 386SX-16
CT NEAT chipset
AMI bios
Miniscribe 300892101 Rev. P2 AT Disk controller
IDE Western Digital WD93044-A 40MB
The only way to boot 386BSD 0.1 is by setting the disktype to 0 (undefined).
No beep this time.
Running install -debug gives the following output:
install -debug
It appear that 386BSD has already been installed.
Do you want to re-install over it? (y/n) y
bios finds: cyl 21072 heads 186 secters 57
Partitions:
offset size type flag
0 0 0 0
0 0 0 0
0 0 0 0
0 0 0 0
....
Strange! My disk has 977 cyls, 5 heads and 17 sectors.
