When relevent, I try to make reference to FreeBSD in the same context as NetBSD. Of course, NetBSD is the system I choose, but I'd take FreeBSD in a heartbeat over Linux, DOS, Windoze, or anything other than NetBSD. :-) >Hmmm... >How is the performance nowdays of apps linked with shared-libraries? >A while ago netbsd-current shared library implementation was slow... >So, how long does it take to compile a kernel with shared library >utilities vs static utilities, gcc, ld, etc.. under FreeBSD or >NetBSD? I can't say that I've noticed any substantial difference, actually. I'm sure someone somewhere has measured it, but my perception is that my NetBSD-current system with shared libs runs quite smoothly. I'm extremely satisfied with NetBSD-current and its shared lib implementation. I assume FreeBSD-current's is pretty much the same. >If nobody answers, is okay -- I expect soon to upgrade to FreeBSD-current. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Michael L.
