I know what Terry has, but on an 486/66 EISA-VLB box I'm seeing much slower times than yours. This is an updated configuration with the stock memory most places sell you. (EISA-SCSI, MAXTOR, 8 MB of 70ns memory which slows things down, 256K cache) This is with FreeBSD 1.1-BETA with a very similar kernel to the one you posted, ignoring the config and make depend in a completely new kernel directory. (No static numbers.) shared: 485.7u 79.3s 11:00:11 86.6% 684+449k 2158+2881io 0pf+0w How are you comparing shared and static? Do you have a filesystem which contains all static binaries for the build tools? How about the rest of the system binaries? How fast is your memory, what hard-drive and card combo., etc....? Where are your times coming from? Is this including the make depend? Did you do a make clean beforehand? Details, details. :-) Inquiring minds want to know.
