I can atest to this.  I got tired of losing ext2 partitions under linux and 
e2fsck not being able to recover them.  It got really annoying when it turned
out to be /.  Hell, It got to where I could even repeat it on a regular basis.

ufs seems to be very resilent under *BSD; I've had people even kill the power.
It may take 5 reboots (that's an extreme case), but / lives! 

I've never lost yet :-)

One thing *BSD doesn't have yet is shared libs, but current in both has it,
and the coming-soon-to-a-ftp-site-near-you release of FreeBSD also has it.
It will probbaly be only a matter of time before I upgrade.  However with
my wimpy 329Mb IDE, I need to be very sure of what I do...

All I gotta say is I'm much happier now and thanks ken, I needed that slap
in the face :-)
