Is it possible to plug a mapping of a UK keyboard into 386bsd-0.1?

It is a bit boring trying to remember the 'strange' US layout.
Presumably there must be a bit of code somewhere that translates
the keyboard scan codes into ascii. Could somebody point me in the
right direction please.
