Science Lines: 34 Distribution: world Message-ID: <2m7maaINNafv@soccer.cis.ohio-state.edu> NNTP-Posting-Host: soccer.cis.ohio-state.edu Summary: Problems installing SMC 8013 card on NetBSD Keywords: HELP I've just installed NetBSD on my compaq deskpro and now I'm trying to get my ethernet card to work... It's a SMC 8013WC of the "Elite" series. I have it set at: Base I/O - 280 IRQ - 2 Ram Addr - D0000 ROM - D8000 According to the install_notes this is supposed to work. The messages I'm getting when I boot the unix machine... ed0 at 0x280-0x29f irq 9 maddr 0xd0000-0xd1fff ed0 address 00:00:c0:f1:79:83, type unknown (8-bit) When I try to configure the card according to the install notes: I type: # ifconfig ed0 my_address and get: # ed0: device timeout The card is 16-bit and set at irq 2. So I don't know why I get the 8-bit or irq 9 message. I would greatly appreciate any information as to how I can get this card working. Joel B Wood wood@cis.ohio-state.edu
