Hello,

we have an unused HP9000/330 system using space, and I thought installing
NetBSD on it would make this machine a bit more funny. I see a problem
in installing NetBSD, though: The system has the HP-standard 16 track
cartridge, which is incompatible to standard Unix cartridges, so how do
I get the new OS onto the hard disk? One idea would be to transfer the
sources or maybe cross-compiled binaries onto the current HP-UX instal-
lation, dump it to the tape and boot from that tape. This could get
a bit tedious, though, as any error would require a reinstallation of
HP-UX to get the revised OS onto a new tape. Also, booting across the
ethernet could be an option, provided the ROM boot code is able to use
bootp/tftp or something else I could install on a Sun or SGI.

Anyway, did anyone of you manage to install NetBSD on a similar configura-
tion? Any experiences or hints would be greatly appreciated.

-Hans
