Can someone help me,
I am looking to buy my self a new PC. I wish to run FreeBSD on it but
seem to be a little lost on what it will run on. The mix of H/W being very
important, for compatibility / drivers. The kind of system I am looking at
is :-
. 486dx266 VL 12mb
. 500MB HD
. IDE Local Bus Cache controller
. Mouse (I assume the MS mouse) ?
. SCSI II (Adaptec appear the most talked about) ?
. NEC 3Xi or Toshiba 341B CDROM (Both are scsi, but are there
drivers) ?
. Tape streamer, that is compatible to the sun 150Mb streamer ?
. 17" 1280 x 1024 or 1600 x 1024 (Sony / Philips Trinitron)
. Some kind of video board 'S3 928' but which one & who would supply
it ?
I use Unix at work for development (X windows) and wish to do the same on
this M/C. If any one has a similar setup or any suggestions or comments on
the finer points, ie which SCSI II controller for eg, all greatfully
received.
Thanks in advance
Matthew.
