No, that someone in Australia,Andrew Herbert <andrew@werple.apana.org.au>,
wrote the driver for NetBSD.  (I believe that the FreeBSD folks asked him
to port it to FreeBSD, but as far as i know, it's not there now...)

It's in NetBSD-current, and has been since 10/6/93.
