That issue is resolved in FreeBSD at least, dunno for NetBSD but I suspect
it to behave the same...

My 640 MB is reported at boot time as

bt0 targ 0 lun 0: type 0(direct) fixed SCSI2
bt0 targ 0 lun 0: <MICROP 1624-07MZ1077801HZ2P>
sd0: 642MB (1316751 total sec), 2112 cyl, 7 head, 89 sec, bytes/sec 512

but my disklabel is using translated parameters :

# /dev/rsd0d:
type: SCSI
disk: mp1624
label:
flags:
bytes/sector: 512
sectors/track: 32
tracks/cylinder: 64
sectors/cylinder: 2048
cylinders: 641
rpm: 3600
interleave: 1
trackskew: 0
cylinderskew: 0
headswitch: 0 # milliseconds
track-to-track seek: 0	# milliseconds
drivedata: 0
