(Source is for libcrypt.) These programs are not covered by any export restrictions, and can be freely distributed outside the USA. (As far as I know, they can imported into the USA, but not reexported.) This distribution acts as a drop-in functional replacement for the encumbered US securedist, and should be compatible with it. This implementation of libcrypt.a uses the crypt.c written by David Burren (originally written for NetBSD, but a functional equivalent of the origianl BSD encryption routines). The source code is distributed under the normal BSD copyright. The binaries, and source are available on: ftp::/braae.ru.ac.za/pub/FreeBSD/FreeBSD-1.1-BETA/securedist/ I would like to encourage FreeBSD mirror sites outside the USA to carry this securedist, and also encourage FreeBSD mirrors in the USA to make their non-USA clients aware of the existance of these files. I'd like to thank St Andrew's College, Grahamstown (and Robin Lunn) for the use of their FreeBSD 1.1BETA system, on which I built the securedist binaries.
