I'm running NetBSD quite successfully with an NE2000 Ethernet board. I can't speak for the speed, since none of my other hosts on the network can hope to keep up with NetBSD. :-) However, all these noises about NE2000s being slow prompted me to go back to the August 1993 Byte where they tested a hundred-odd Ethernet cards. The NE2000 wasn't significantly slower than any of the others in the top performance bracket. However, they were testing under DOS/NetWare. Which tends to be slow. I've never seen my DOS/NetWare system do better than about 600 K/sec. when lightly loaded. cjs -- Curt Sampson a09878@giant.rsoft.bc.ca Fluor Daniel 604 691 5458 1444 Alberni Street Vanouver, B.C., V6G 2Z4 Non scholae sed vitae discimus. --Cicero
