At first, everything was OK with MSDOS/Linux.
And I wanted to try NetBSD.

I read FAQ, NetBSD Install instruction and followed carefully one
by one. And I found that I could not get any partition editor
which is mentioned in NetBSD Install instruction.
Only thing I could use was Linux's fdisk program.
So, I used Slackware's root/boot disk to run fdisk and changed the
partition id to A5 (I think that this is another dumb thing about
NetBSD - You need Linux to change the partition id to install NetBSD).
Unfortunately the conclusion of the installation was "dumping core" :(.
I was able to install 386bsd 0.1 an year ago with the same configuration
(only the memory was increased to 8M, HD was upgraded from 200 to 540 -
 same brand name :Maxtor).
At first, the installation looked smooth : recognizing all the peripherals
correctly, ........... and finally dumped the core.

One strange thing is that it wiped out the dos partition.
(I clearly started after the dos partition).
Now, even though I fdisk again and reformat the dos partition,
I cannot make it bootable whatsoever.
It complains that there is not boot partition (but I made it so using
DOS's fdisk and it says that it is an active partition).
Maybe I am punished by THE LINUX for betraying ( :) ).
All I want is to go back to DOS/Linux as before (boot DOS from HD, boot
linux from FD), and forget about *BSD.
I don't have time to hassle any longer. I just wasted last two days.
Did anyone have similar problem and get the solution ?

Another thing is : Why Maxtor540 gives me only 503M bytes total ?

Thanks.
