So... I may not be able to even install FreeBSD since my external CD-ROM drive (Toshiba XM3301B) is connected to my sb16scsi-2 board. Does anybody know a workaround for this? Yup. What you do is install a small DOS partition on that machine (if you haven't already) and get it to talk to the CD drive using the supplied drivers. Then copy off the bindist files onto it and boot the installation disks (which you'll also find on the CD) as normal. When you're at the last phases of the installation, the install script will ask you if it can find the rest of the installation on DOS (your `C' drive) and, if so, what directory it's in. The rest is easy! One you have FreeBSD up, you can mount your DOS partition as a filesystem and use it for xfering data from the CD back and forth. Not great, but better than nothing! Then you can get to work writing the sound blaster CD driver for us! :-) We're a volunteer effort and don't make any money on those CD sales, so we can't simply hire someone to do it (I wish!). Jordan
