Message-ID: <765512486.1@mettav.royle> Date: 04 Apr 94 19:28:46 EST Lines: 27 WARNING: Fool in control, please do not flame! ;-) Right I have up until recently been managing a number of DEC Mips systems running Ultrix 4.2 and being used as file servers. These have now been replaced by Novell and inorder to get over my withdrawal symptoms have obtained a PC with BSD pre-installed but am experiencing some problems. Firstly if I do a man on a comm port based session it locks up the session and the only way I seem to be able to free it is to do a shutdown from the console prompt? Also I cannot login into root from this session (something to do with ttys but cannot RTFM ;-) as I don't know where to start) and if I login as a normal lowly user the SU it reports that I am not in the correct group (which group as I never had this trouble under Ultrix?) What do I have to change to get X-Windows to run under an ordinary VGA display? Lastly any good (free?) DB's for me to have a play with on my new toy?
