I have a 1542C that I got in April 1993 and that was not long after they were shipped. I have had no problems with it running a cd/rom and a QIC-525 drive. The only troubles I'm aware of are from running the DMA transfer rate higher than the machine can work with, but that is a config type issue. -roger rogerl@mv.mv.com
