	Have you tried dialing in at 7E1 and having the gettytab and
ttys files set up as 7E1.  If you were using 8N1 instead it can be
problematical to set it up correctly.  (8N1 can be done on 1.0 with
sufficient effort).  Give 7E1 a try and if it works then you can go from
there.  FreeBSD -current works out of the box with 8N1 and you can grab
the /etc/gettytab and /sys/sys/ttydefaults.h files from
freebsd.cdrom.com for reference.
