Reply-To: fbsd@elvisti.kiev.ua Organization: Elektronni Visti Date: Wed, 06 Apr 1994 17:14:19 GMT Message-ID: <1994Apr06.171419.9559@elvisti.ua> X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL1] Lines: 35 Hello! Sorry for being a dummy in this; but I have a problem with 1.1-BETA and keyboard. The detail description follows; but the first question is: I vaguely remember that someone here in news (maybe during some flame battle? :) told, that he'd found some "stupid bug" in 1.1-BETA, which caused the troubles with the keyboard. As far as I remember, the problem was solved quickly due to those brave man... Can anyone point me - who was those wizard and how can I contact him - I want to ask a question or two, nothing more :) The problem. (Was posted to mailing list; no solution was proposed :( ) While working with 1.1-BETA (no X11, stock syscons/pccons) keyboard hangs... The system is still alive, I can telnet into it, but there's no reaction on any keys. Hardware. The box is a European Intel, "S series", model S486DX334F, made in Ireland. It has: high integrated motherboard with all-on-it - VGA, com/lpt ports, IDE, FDC; CPU i486dx-33, RAM 8mb. Keyboard is marked: PRODUCT NO. ALPSCL188XX, made in Ireland, too. Why I think this may be important - some people with the same boxes have no problems... Maybe the keyboard fails? Some hardw tests for dos show nothing unusual... When I disabled the external 64kb cache, hangups dissapeared, but the box has become slo-o-o-w... Thanks in advance! Andrew Stesin, Elvisti, Kiev.
