You seem to be trying to upgrade directly from 1.0.2 to -current. You might be looking for trouble ! I think you should consider first moving to 1.1 Beta (or 1.1 when it's released), in order to install shared libs and the new config, and when everything seems okay, upgrade to -current. That will be a lot easier. I did the first part : first I tried the precompiled GENERICAH kernel, then booting the 1.0.2 kernel I installed the 1.1 Beta kernel sources and config with the required shared libs. After that, I booted the 1.1 kernel again and ran config. Then I rebooted with the 1.0.2 kernel and compiled the kernel except for the final link, which I had to do under the 1.1 kernel (sounds complicated, but its simple, really). Then I booted 1.1 and never rebooted 1.0.2 again, I installed the rest of the system and made a lot on room on my HD. I intend to go to -current as soon as I can have an easy way to get regular -current updates. By the way, I wanted to thank all the FreeBSD team for the wonderful 1.1 Beta. I was already very happy with 1.0.2, but 1.1 is such a huge improvement I couldn't believe it. Especially on my machine with 8megs, the new VM system and the new IDE driver really make the difference ! Even before I installed shared libs, it looked like I had added 4megs RAM... -- Pierre Beyssac FreeBSD@home: pb@fasterix.frmug.fr.net FreeBSD, NetBSD, Linux -- Il y a moins bien, mais c'est plus cher.
