Actually, SAS/C has a product (SAS/C CSL) which provides the X and Motif libraries on MVS. I'm the priniciple implementor... It's been available for about two years, providing Motif 1.1 and the entire X11R5 libraries. We don't have emacs yet; but gcc in its later versions can be coaxed into generating 370 code. Also, POSIX is coming to MVS. There's recent announcements from IBM. As well, IBM seems to taking steps to make porting of UNIX stuff to MVS much easier. I can tell you, it's very strange doing "ls" on an MVS machine - but it's there. - It's a "brave new world" - - Dave Rivers - (sastdr@unx.sas.com) -- Imagine Whirled Peas.
